AltaVista is a search engine owned by Yahoo that was launched in 199 and was very popular in the late 1990's. However, this popularity declined as Google became the dominant search engine.
Researchers at Digital Equipment Corporation's Network Systems Laboratory and Western Research Laboratory created AltaVista for fast and easy file retrieval on public networks. The product was launched in 1995 and became the exclusive provider of search results for Yahoo! in 1996.
The AltaVista search panel was shut down in 2011 and was replaced with Yahoo! search.
CreatorSEO no longer supports AltaVista ranking value assessment and now focusses primarily on the Google and Bing search engines.
